Bitumen Surface Dressing

Getting There Groundworks is experienced in surface dressing roads using bitumen, a cost-effective way of restoring a worn-out surface and resealing it at the same time.

Surface dressing improves skid resistance, helps to make the road waterproof and protects it against frost and water damage.

Our experienced contracting team will spray the road with bitumen binder before pressing a layer of stone chippings into the surface using a roller. We use more chippings than are needed, to make sure that the entire surface is well covered, and then we sweep away the excess chippings.

The road is swept again to remove any loose chippings that are disturbed by passing traffic.

As a contractor, Getting There Groundworks carries out surface dressing for councils between April and September, as the process needs warm, dry weather to make sure the new surface hardens properly.
